The Minister of Education is set to hold meetings in the United States. Givi Mikanadze has departed for a working visit to New York, where he will address the Youth Forum (April 14-16) organized by the UN — the ECOSOC Youth Forum 2026.

The Minister is reported to hold meetings with European leaders in the fields of education and science, as well as with heads of UN structural units.

Mikanadze will also visit the Saint Hieromartyr Grigol Peradze Georgian Cultural Center in Pennsylvania.

He will brief the heads of Georgian Sunday schools operating in the US on the reforms being implemented in Georgia’s education system.

“Givi Mikanadze will hold bilateral meetings at the US Department of State and the Department of Education,” the statement reads.

The ECOSOC Youth Forum will take place from April 14 to 16 at the UN Headquarters in New York. Held under the theme of the 2026 High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF), the forum will focus on transformative, equitable, innovative, and coordinated actions to advance the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals.

The Forum will pay special attention to the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically: Goal 6 (clean water and sanitation), Goal 7 (affordable and clean energy), Goal 9 (industry, innovation, and infrastructure), Goal 11 (sustainable cities and communities), and Goal 17 (partnerships for the goals).

Serving as a global platform, the ECOSOC Youth Forum will bring together young people, member states, the UN system, and other partners to share ideas, showcase innovative solutions, and strengthen youth participation in accelerating progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals.
