Levan Zhorzholiani, the Head of the Government Administration of Georgia, met with a delegation from the foreign ministries of the “Weimar Triangle” countries.
“The parties discussed Georgia’s relations with the European Union, emphasizing the importance of constructive dialogue. As noted during the meeting, Georgia reaffirms its readiness for dialogue with EU institutions and cooperation based on mutual respect with member states.
According to the Head of the Government Administration, the authorities are continuing to implement the reforms stipulated by the EU Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) agreement,” the administration’s statement said.
The delegation includes Niklas Wagner, Director of the Department for Political Affairs for Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia at the German Federal Foreign Office; Brice Roquefeuil, Director for Continental Europe at the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs; and Michał Giergoń, Deputy Director of the Eastern Neighbourhood and Enlargement Policy Department at the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It is worth noting that over the past year, the foreign ministers of the Weimar Triangle countries—France, Germany, and Poland—have repeatedly criticized the Georgian authorities regarding the adoption of amendments to the Law “On Grants,” which concerns foreign funding and political activity in Georgia.
