Armenian PM’s Spokesperson: No Question of Transferring Territory to Georgia

gruzia armenia News

Nazeli Baghdasaryan, the spokesperson for the Prime Minister of Armenia, has denied reports circulated by several media outlets claiming that an agreement was reached to transfer the village of Jiliza in Armenia’s Alaverdi district to Georgia as part of the process to finalize the delimitation of the Georgian-Armenian state border.

Baghdasaryan posted this on her Facebook page.

“A number of media outlets have circulated ‘information’ that an agreement was reached within the delimitation process, according to which Armenia would transfer the village of Jiliza, part of the Alaverdi expanded municipality, to Georgia.

Any statement, assumption, or ‘information’ regarding an intention, plan, or agreement to transfer any part of the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia to another country is, by its very nature, untrue.

Therefore, as before, we deny any publications of this or any similar nature—past, present, and future—on the grounds that they are entirely fabricated,” the representative of the Armenian Prime Minister’s office wrote.
