Patriarchate of Georgia: Metropolitan Andria (Gvazava) is one of the church’s most prominent hierarchs

Georgian Patriarchy News

The Patriarchate of Georgia has issued a statement noting that detractors of the church are making every effort to undermine the public’s sense of justice regarding the Holy Synod meeting.

“Under the guise of goodwill and support, they ostensibly speak in defense of our respected hierarchs, thereby attempting to sow discord, resentment, and confrontation within the fullness of the Holy Church.

We clearly see that through this sham support and excessive interest, they are, on the contrary, indirectly attempting to diminish the dignity of our esteemed hierarchs.

In this context, we wish to clarify the following to the public and the fullness of the church regarding His Eminence Metropolitan Andria (Gvazava) of Gori and Ateni: he is one of the most prominent hierarchs of the Georgian Church, distinguished by an exemplary Christian life. For many years, he has selflessly served the Mother Church and, by virtue of his moral life, is a member of the Moral Commission of the Georgian Church. His role in the life of the church has always been and remains significant. We are deeply convinced that this will continue to be the case in the future,” the statement reads.
