Demands for the Resignation of De Facto Leader Alan Gagloev in Tskhinvali

gagloev News

The so-called opposition in the Tskhinvali region is demanding the early resignation of the “president” of the occupied Georgian territory—de facto leader Alan Gagloev. His team has been accused of corruption and the inefficient spending of Russian funds.

Vladimir Kelekhsaev, leader of the *Yedinstvo Naroda* (People’s Unity) party, stated that approximately 1.5 billion rubles in preferential loans may have been misappropriated or used opaquely. According to him, out of a new 4-billion-ruble tranche from the Russian Federation, tangible results were limited to just a few industrial facilities, while a significant portion of the funds remains untraceable.

It is alleged that the Russian money was not directed toward supporting the rural population and small businesses, as had been previously proposed.

Gagloev is also facing criticism from the local NGO “Civil Platform,” which reported pressure from the de facto authorities and a refusal to allow a roundtable discussion at a library.

The Tskhinvali opposition claims that the so-called authorities are heightening social tension and leading the region toward a crisis. They state that the only way out is their sole demand: the early resignation of Alan Gagloev.

Accusations were also voiced regarding potential attempts to influence the future so-called “presidential” elections, which are scheduled to be held in April 2027.

It should be noted that the Georgian authorities and the international community consider any so-called elections in the occupied territories of Georgia to be illegitimate.
