The court has found brothers David and Giorgi Mikadze, as well as Giorgi Jokhadze, guilty of organizing the contract killing of businessman Levan Dzhangveladze, acting on commission and in their own interests. The ruling was delivered by Judge Romeo Tkeshelashvili of the Tbilisi City Court.
According to the court’s decision, Giorgi Mikadze, who is currently in custody, as well as David Mikadze and Giorgi Jokhadze, who remain at large, have been sentenced to life imprisonment.
The judge noted that the prosecution successfully proved the defendants’ guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
For reference, brothers Giorgi and David Mikadze, along with Giorgi Jokhadze, were charged under Article 109 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to the organization of a contract killing for financial gain.
Giorgi Jokhadze was also charged under Article 236 of the Criminal Code, which covers the illegal acquisition, storage, and sale of firearms and ammunition by a group of individuals.
Gela Udzilauri has already been convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for the contract murder of Levan Dzhangveladze and the attempted murder of Gia Chaduneli. In the same case, Sandro Tsivtsivdze was sentenced to eight years in prison for the illegal sale of firearms.
Former Prosecutor General Otar Romanov-Partskhaladze is also an accused party in this case. He has been charged under Article 109 of the Criminal Code of Georgia. This crime carries a penalty of 16 to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
Otar Romanov-Partskhaladze is a Russian citizen and has been placed on the international wanted list.
