Sentences Handed Down to Participants of the October 4, 2025 Events

Politicians accused in the case concerning the events of October 4 near the presidential palace — Paata Burchuladze, Murtaz Zodelava, Irakli Nadiradze, Paata Manjgaladze, Lasha Beridze, and Irakli Shaishmelashvili — along with five others — Irakli Chkhvirkia, Guri Zhvania, Nika Gventsadze, and Tornike Mchedlishvili — have been found guilty by the court.

According to the ruling by Judge Irakli Khuskivadze:

Murtaz Zodelava, Paata Burchuladze, and Irakli Nadiradze were charged under Article 222 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which pertains to the attempted seizure and blocking of strategic and highly important facilities committed by a group of persons. They were also charged under Article 225 of the Criminal Code, concerning the organization and leadership of group violence, as well as Article 317 — public calls for the violent change of the constitutional order of Georgia and the overthrow of state power, which carries a penalty of up to 9 years of imprisonment.

Irakli Shaishmelashvili was charged under Article 317, regarding public calls for the violent change of the constitutional order or the overthrow of power, which carries a penalty of up to 3 years of imprisonment.

Lasha Beridze was charged under Articles 222 and 225 of the Criminal Code.

Irakli Chkhvirkia, Nika Gventsadze, and Tornike Mchedlishvili were also charged under Articles 222 and 225, which provide for a penalty of 6 to 9 years of imprisonment.

Guri Zhvania was charged under Article 225 of the Criminal Code — participation in group violence.

Paata Manjgaladze was charged under Article 225 — organization of group violence, which provides for a penalty of 6 to 9 years of imprisonment.
