A new higher education institution, the Georgian Academy of Diplomacy, will be established in Georgia at the initiative of the government. As Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated during a government meeting, current departments at state and private universities are not fully capable of providing future diplomats with the necessary knowledge and skills.
According to the Prime Minister, the Academy of Diplomacy is expected to begin operations next year, following its official authorization.
“The Georgian Academy of Diplomacy will train highly qualified personnel for the diplomatic service. Its departmental subordination will help the academy ensure a high level of instruction and research. Several higher education institutions already operate successfully under this format, such as the National Defence Academy of Georgia, the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the recently established Security Academy.
Taking this successful practice into account, we believe that the Georgian Academy of Diplomacy, by virtue of its departmental subordination, will be able to successfully fulfill this vital function.
Our task is to prepare highly qualified personnel for the diplomatic service, which is essential for the further strengthening of our country’s foreign policy positions,” Kobakhidze stated.
