The State Duma (the lower house of the Russian parliament) has passed a federal law “On the Ratification of the Treaty on Deepening Allied Interaction between the Russian Federation and the Republic of South Ossetia,” which was previously submitted by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to the document, the parties intend to pursue a coordinated foreign policy and cooperate in the fields of defense and security, infrastructure development, and human potential.
Additionally, Moscow and Tskhinvali will mutually recognize each other’s documents.
The treaty also provides for measures to unify labor legislation, social protection, and pension provision, including the mutual recognition of citizens’ work history. Furthermore, the parties plan to take steps toward forming a common economic space and improving the population’s standard of living.
