Georgian Foreign Minister and Vice Prime Minister Maka Bochorishvili held a meeting with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha during the 135th session of the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers taking place in Chișinău.
The ministry reports that the meeting was a continuation of recent contacts between representatives of the Georgian and Ukrainian governments and another step in the development of bilateral dialogue.
“This meeting was another step in the development of relations following recent contacts between representatives of the Georgian and Ukrainian governments.
During the meeting, the discussion focused on Georgia’s consistent political and humanitarian support for Ukraine.
At the same time, the Georgian side highlighted existing problems in Georgian-Ukrainian relations, including steps taken by the Ukrainian authorities in recent years and positions that continue to hinder the normalization of bilateral relations.
The parties reaffirmed the importance of restoring healthy diplomatic relations and expressed readiness to continue the dialogue,” the statement from the Georgian Foreign Ministry reads.
As a reminder, on May 4, a meeting between Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Volodymyr Zelenskyy took place in Yerevan on the sidelines of the European Political Community summit. According to the Georgian Government Administration, the communication was initiated by the Ukrainian side. The foreign ministers of Georgia and Ukraine, Maka Bochorishvili and Andrii Sybiha, also participated in the meeting.
