Georgian Foreign Minister and Vice Prime Minister Maka Bochorishvili will participate in the 135th session of the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers, which will be held in Chișinău on May 15.

According to the ministry, Bochorishvili will deliver a speech to the participants of the Committee of Ministers meeting.

Bilateral talks with counterparts—foreign ministers from various countries—are also scheduled as part of the ministerial meeting.

Notably, the 135th session of the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers is being held under the presidency of Moldova. Following the conclusion of the ministerial meeting, Chișinău will hand over the presidency of the Committee of Ministers to Monaco, which will lead the committee for the next six months.

As a reminder, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has announced plans to discuss the bilateral agenda with his Georgian counterpart.

For Georgia, participation in such meetings holds particular political significance. The country has been a member of the Council of Europe since 1999 and traditionally uses the organization’s platform to discuss issues of territorial integrity, the Russia-Georgia conflict, the situation in Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region, as well as European integration.
