The Regulatory Agency of the Ministry of Health of Georgia has launched an investigation into a case involving a 20-day-old newborn.

The infant’s family accuses the Batumi Iashvili Clinic of negligence and of causing injury to the child.

According to the child’s father, the newborn was initially brought to the clinic with a viral infection; however, “today a head injury was discovered.”

“The baby was two weeks old when his respiratory condition worsened at home, and we took him to the Batumi Iashvili Clinic. We were told he had a skull fracture, and now they are blaming the family,” the parent stated.

According to him, the injury was allegedly sustained while the child was at the clinic.

“The injury was inflicted there, but they are blaming the family. The child was admitted with a virus, but otherwise healthy, and was sent back with a fractured skull,” he noted .

The infant has since been transferred to Tbilisi and is currently at the Iashvili Clinic.
