Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze will participate in the World Urban Forum, currently taking place in Baku, Azerbaijan, in partnership with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat).
The Administration of the Government of Georgia reported that Kobakhidze will deliver a speech at the 13th session of the World Urban Forum. A meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is also scheduled.
“As part of the summit, heads of state will discuss ways to address the global housing crisis caused by climate change and conflict. This is one of the essential conditions for sustainable and inclusive urban development.
The forum is attended by representatives from more than 180 countries, including heads of state, major business leaders, urban planners, and real estate developers.
The Prime Minister of Georgia traveled to Baku with a delegation including Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Maka Bochorishvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili, Minister of Internal Affairs Sulkhan Tamazashvili, and Head of the Government Administration Levan Zhorzholiani,” the Government Administration stated.
The United Nations Human Settlements Programme was established in 1978 and is headquartered in Nairobi. It is a specialized UN agency focused on developing environmentally and socially sustainable cities, as well as improving living conditions and housing security.
