Designer Datuna Sulikashvili, convicted on drug-related charges, has been granted a two-day leave from the penitentiary facility to spend the weekend at home.
His lawyer, Mariam Kublashvili, explained that this provision is part of the Penitentiary Code, which allows certain convicts to temporarily leave the institution during weekends and public holidays.
As a reminder, Datuna Sulikashvili is serving a six-month prison sentence and is scheduled for release on June 9, 2026.
In addition to the custodial sentence, he was handed a 4.5-year suspended sentence, a fine of 50,000 GEL (Georgian Lari), and several restrictions—including a ban on driving and holding public office.
The designer was detained on December 9, 2025. He was charged with the illegal acquisition and possession of drugs in an especially large quantity.
This is a serious felony that carries a sentence of 8 to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment; however, a plea bargain (procedural agreement) was reached in this case.
