For the first time in history, Georgia has hosted the European Strongman Championship—a strength sport where participants compete not in traditional weightlifting, but in performing various extreme feats of strength.

Athletes lift and carry exceptionally heavy, non-standard objects such as stone spheres, logs, and metal structures, as well as tow heavy loads or hold weights for time.

The competition took place in Tskaltubo in a classic “old school” strongman format. Approximately 100 athletes from 11 countries participated in the tournament.

The Georgian national team won seven medals in the adult categories:

“Tornike Samkharadze (up to 90 kg), Lasha Jokhadze (up to 105 kg), Valiko Pipia (up to 120 kg), and Avtandil Kormazanashvili (over 120 kg) became champions in their respective weight categories.

Nika Samkharadze (80 kg) won a silver medal, while Jumber Naveriani (90 kg) and Chabuki Chikhladze (over 120 kg) received bronze awards,” the agency’s report stated.
