Ukrainian police have detained a 24-year-old Georgian citizen in Kyiv. According to law enforcement, he set fire to vehicles on the orders of Russian security services.
As reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv, the man arrived in Ukraine in early March. He connected with an FSB (Federal Security Service) handler via Telegram, who promised him money for setting fire to military vehicles.
However, the Georgian citizen decided not to look for actual military vehicles. Instead, he affixed symbols of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) onto ordinary civilian cars himself and set them on fire. In this way, the man destroyed two cars in the Darnytskyi District.
During a search, police seized a phone from the detainee containing correspondence with Russian security services. He has been charged under Part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The Georgian citizen faces up to ten years in prison. The court ordered him to be held in custody as a preventive measure.
