Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili has once again lashed out at the German Ambassador to Tbilisi, Peter Fischer. The speaker published a post on his Facebook page in response to the diplomat’s interview with the Batumelebi outlet.
“And yet, the way out of such a bleak situation is simple – do not be a liar and do not support violence. A liar is someone who calls violence a ‘peaceful protest,’ and a supporter of violence is someone who poses in front of a fascist slogan. Crocodile tears cannot hide the truth.”
Earlier, speaking to Batumelebi, Peter Fischer admitted that there is “indeed nothing pleasant” about the country’s president, prime minister, and parliament speaker calling you a liar and accusing you of supporting violence. “But diplomats are here to do their job and represent their country,” the ambassador noted. According to Fischer, much worse than the intimidation of diplomats is “what we are seeing in relation to the citizens of Georgia.”
