Rescuers in the occupied Tskhinvali region of Georgia have found the body of Russian tourist Anna Tits, who had been sought for several days following a tragedy on the Greater Liakhvi River.
According to the de facto Ministry of Emergency Situations, the deceased was found approximately 35 kilometers downstream from the site of the incident.
To recall, the tragedy occurred on the night of May 21 in the village of Zgubiri (ზღუბური) in the Java District. The 52-year-old woman, along with her companion, fell into the river from a suspension bridge. The man was rescued, but the woman was swept away by the swift current.
The search had been ongoing since May 21: on the first day, 60 employees of the so-called Ministry of Emergency Situations participated in the search. By the following day, 150 people from the “Ministry of Emergency Situations” and the de facto Ministry of Internal Affairs were involved in the operation.
Later, they were joined by additional forces from other agencies.
The day before, more than 200 people were involved in the search operations.
