Tsotne Ivanishvili, the son of the founder and honorary chairman of the Georgian Dream party, Bidzina Ivanishvili, has stated that people with differing views can engage in a healthy dialogue if they sincerely love their country.
Ivanishvili Jr. made these remarks at a regional conference of the party’s youth organization in Rustavi.
According to him, there is a false stereotype in Georgia that the majority of young people view Georgian Dream negatively, noting that even with opposing views, it is crucial to maintain the opportunity for discussion and debate.
“I think we can all easily agree that today in Georgia there is a false stereotype that the majority of youth have a very negative attitude towards Georgian Dream. For example, I have friends with whom I may have completely different views on many issues, but I always find it interesting to debate and talk with them.
I have said this before and I will say it again: in my opinion, if two people with different views sincerely love their homeland, they can discuss any topic, debate, and it is precisely in such debates that a healthy opinion is born, a firm position is born, and, most importantly, truth is born,” stated the son of the honorary chairman of ‘Dream’.
Ivanishvili Jr. supported holding youth conferences across the country and proposed developing this format in the long term, noting that such meetings would help strengthen dialogue among young people and reduce the level of polarization in society.
