Georgian Prime Minister discusses “reset” of relations with US State Department representatives

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze held a meeting with representatives of the US Department of State.

The Administration of the Government of Georgia reported that the parties discussed the prospects of a “reset” in relations between Georgia and the United States, as well as the importance of a strategic partnership based on a concrete roadmap.

Kobakhidze reiterated the Georgian government’s readiness to start renewing bilateral relations “from scratch” on the basis of mutual respect.

The government also noted that official Tbilisi welcomes the US State Department’s interest in Georgia, which, as emphasized, is evidenced by the recent intensification of contacts.

During the meeting, Georgia’s role as a reliable partner in the region was also emphasized. Kobakhidze stated that the country is ready to continue contributing to ensuring long-term peace and stability in the region.

The meeting was attended by Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Maka Bochorishvili and Head of the Government Administration Levan Zhorzholiani.

Earlier, the US Embassy did not specify the composition of the delegation; however, the Georgian Prime Minister announced at a briefing the visit of Peter Andreoli, a representative of the US State Department’s Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, noting that during the visit, the parties plan to discuss the details of bilateral cooperation.
