Pope Leo XIV has sent a letter of congratulation to the sixth President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, on the occasion of the country’s Independence Day.

“On the occasion of your national holiday, I extend to Your Excellency my warm wishes for the prosperity of your country and the unity of hearts.

I pray to the Lord that your fellow citizens may find renewed inspiration time and again on the path of serving the common good of the people. May they remain peacemakers, attentive to the voice of the poor and creative in works of mercy to alleviate their suffering.

May Almighty God, through the intercession of Saint Nino, grant the Georgian people the right to live in security and peace. I sincerely invoke divine blessings upon Your Excellency, all those responsible for public affairs, and the entire Georgian people,” the Pope noted.
