The 42-year-old woman who killed her child in Bolnisi stabbed him in the heart with scissors, TV Pirveli reports.
Residents of the village of Khakhalajvari (Damirli) said that other young children were also in the house at the time of the incident.
The tragedy occurred late at night: according to neighbors, Svetlana Akhmadova (an Azerbaijani citizen) grabbed scissors in the kitchen and stabbed her 8-year-old child, Farukh Akhmedov, in the heart in front of the other young children.
Another resident of the village reported that locals are discussing the woman’s possible mental health issues, but he personally had not noticed anything of the sort. He added that after the incident, the woman attempted suicide and inflicted several stab wounds on herself.
Notably, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia confirmed the woman’s detention. The investigation is being conducted under Article 109 of the Criminal Code, which covers premeditated murder under aggravating circumstances committed against a known minor. It is reported that the detained woman may have had mental health issues.
