Mikheil Saakashvili, the third president of Georgia, writes from prison that “many successful figures got their start in life from him” — both in Georgia and Ukraine, but, as the politician writes, there are also those who “amounted to nothing,” including Irakli Okruashvili, Giga Bokeria, and Nika Melia.

Saakashvili noted that he had always supported talented people and celebrated their success. In this context, he mentioned former allies and political figures who, according to him, went on to hold high-ranking positions in Ukraine and other countries.

The former president writes that he has been disappointed by a number of politicians, including Irakli Okruashvili and Nika Melia. According to him, Okruashvili “succumbed to ambition and corruption,” while Melia, despite years of support, ended up “in the same swamp” as other opposition figures.

“In the end, I still suffered a defeat, and Melia ended up in the same swamp where Okruashvili, Bokeria, and some others already are. <…> May Nika be released as quickly as possible and hug his son. For me, politics is, first and foremost, about humanity,” the third president noted.

As a reminder, one of the leaders of the “Coalition for Change,” the accused Nika Melia, released a letter from prison in which he spoke out about the third president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili.

Melia wrote that “where Saakashvili is, there are no national interests, only private, selfish interests, as he has an unhealthy self-admiration and cares only about his own ego.”

The opposition politician also noted that Saakashvili “was forced to arrive before the local elections due to his own uncontrollable jealousy.”

According to Nika Melia, the constant accusations from Mikheil Saakashvili and periodic talk of alleged betrayal committed against him “serve solely as an attempt to conceal the specific story of his possible agreements with the authorities in exchange for leaving the country, which, for a number of reasons, seriously worries him today.”
