An alternative entrance from Mtskheta in the direction of Didi Digomi may be established, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze announced during a debate on the Rustavi 2 television channel.
According to him, research work on this matter is already underway.
Kaladze noted that a key project would be the construction of a highway towards Lilo via Avchala and ZaGES (Zemo-Avchala Hydroelectric Power Plant — Ed.), which will allow access to this part of the city without entering the center of Tbilisi.
“We have held several meetings with the Ministry of Infrastructure, and research is currently underway regarding the development of new road infrastructure. This concerns the creation of an alternative entrance from Mtskheta in the direction of Didi Digomi.
In the near future, we will receive the results of the studies and see which project can be implemented.
Another very important project is the construction of a highway towards Lilo via Avchala and ZaGES without the need to enter the city,” Kakha Kaladze stated.
