In his report to parliament, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze emphasizes that cooperation and strategic partnership with the US is an important and priority area for the country’s government.
The government’s task, as noted, is to “reset” relations with the US, which involves restoring equal relations based on the principles of fairness, taking into account the interests of both sides, as well as the full resumption and development of cooperation in all areas.
The report on the implementation of the government program states that an active political dialogue is currently underway with the US Administration to restore the strategic partnership between Georgia and the US, which, it is claimed, was suspended by the Joe Biden administration.
“Within the framework of the ongoing political dialogue, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working with the American side to develop a new bilateral agenda that will reflect the strategic interests of both countries and contribute to achieving bilateral, regional, and global goals.
Between February and March 2026, several US delegations from Congress and the Administration visited Georgia.
At the same time, a working visit of a Ministry of Foreign Affairs delegation to Washington took place at the deputy minister level, as well as a visit by a parliamentary delegation to Washington.
During the reporting period, a number of high-level and top-level contacts also took place, including a telephone conversation between the head of the Georgian government and the US Secretary of State, as well as engagement by the President of Georgia and the Minister of Foreign Affairs with the US Vice President and the Secretary of State,” the Prime Minister’s report says.
