Another eight defendants in the case concerning the October 4 events outside the palace on Atoneli Street will enter into plea agreements with the prosecution. This time, the agreements concern another episode of the case. The plea bargains will be finalized for the following individuals: Eva Shanshiashvili, Aleksandre Gogoladze, Gocha Katashvili, Sulkhan Abralava, Ramaz Jorbenadze, Jandri Tirkiya, Genadi Kelikhashvili, and Dato Gutskaya.
During the recent court hearing, they pleaded guilty and accepted the presented evidence. The remaining defendants declared that they do not plead guilty, asserting that on October 4 they were defending Georgia’s interests and intend to fight to the end.
Out of the 15 defendants in this episode, plea agreements will not be concluded at this stage with seven individuals: doctor Giorgi Chakhunashvili, Ia Darakhvelidze, Zakro Albutashvili, Davit Zhgenti, Konstantine Kokaya, Kakhaber Mzhavanadze, and Davit Sturua. They deny the charges against them.
As for those who pleaded guilty, their cases have been severed into separate proceedings. Once the court approves the agreements reached between the parties in the coming days, the defendants will be released directly from the courtroom.
The prosecution is offering them an agreement that entails a three-year suspended sentence.
As a reminder, a few days ago the prosecution also confirmed the conclusion of plea agreements with seven other defendants in the case concerning the October 4 events.
