UN General Assembly Adopts New Resolution on Georgia

The UN General Assembly has adopted a new resolution, “Status of internally displaced persons and refugees from Abkhazia, Georgia, and the Tskhinvali region/South Ossetia, Georgia”. The document was supported by 107 states.

The text of the resolution condemns Russia’s actions in the territories of Georgia and reaffirms the right of internally displaced persons and refugees to return to their homes.

The document adopted by the General Assembly calls on the participants of the international discussions in Geneva to intensify efforts to improve the security and human rights situation in the regions of Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region.
