Georgian Dream has decided to ease its approach and soften fines for traffic violations. To this end, amendments will be introduced to the Code of Administrative Offenses. This was announced by the party’s parliamentary leader, Irakli Kirtskhalia.

This issue has already been discussed in the parliament’s legal affairs committee. Consultations on this agenda are being held with State Minister Mamuka Mdinaradze and the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Sulkhan Tamazashvili.

“The changes concern traffic regulations. We are working on this; currently, the process is at the consultation stage. We will likely have certain changes ready by the next plenary week or by the end of the spring session.

Why is this important for society? Based on practice and observations, we believe that in a number of cases, the approaches to traffic rules and fines should be eased. It is important to balance penalties depending on the severity of the violation and its proportionality,” Kirtskhalia stated.

The parliamentary leader expressed hope that a consensus would be reached and that the public would receive more details about the amendments by the end of the spring session.
