Over the course of two days, 119 people, including 49 suspected drug dealers, were detained in Tbilisi and other regions of Georgia on drug-related charges. This was announced by Vazha Siradze, Director of the Tbilisi Police Department.

According to Siradze, the detainees include both Georgian citizens and foreign nationals. During searches of their homes, vehicles, and other locations, police seized large quantities of narcotic and psychotropic substances, including heroin, cocaine, alpha-PVP, methadone, mephedrone, buprenorphine, and other drugs. Packaging materials, cash suspected to be proceeds from drug sales, and a large quantity of firearms and ammunition were also confiscated.

Acting on court orders, authorities repeatedly conducted controlled purchases using hidden audio and video recording — the suspects systematically sold drugs to citizens and received money in return.

Siradze stated that the investigation is being conducted under Articles 260, 260-ter, 260-quater, 265, and 236 of the Criminal Code, which carry penalties of up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
