The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia reports that officers of the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department have seized another 76 cryptocurrency mining devices in the Mestia municipality.
A total of 330 miners have been seized as part of the ongoing investigation.
It has been established that local residents used these devices to systematically generate digital currency, illegally consuming large amounts of electricity and generating illicit income.
The ministry emphasized that intensive investigative measures are ongoing to identify other participants in the alleged scheme and to take appropriate legal action against them.
The investigation is being conducted under Article 229¹, Part 2, Paragraph “b” of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carries a penalty of up to three years in prison.
