The British Embassy in Georgia published London’s statement on the introduction of sanctions against those who facilitate “Putin’s illegal war in Ukraine.”
This includes the vessel SILVAR, which called at the port of Kulevi on Georgia’s Black Sea coast in early 2026.
“Today, the UK announced new, wide-ranging sanctions against those who facilitate Putin’s illegal war in Ukraine. Specifically, the sanctions target Russia’s aging ‘shadow fleet’, military supply chains, and illicit financial networks used to evade sanctions.
The sanctions also target the vessel SILVAR, which called at the Georgian port earlier this year.
In 2026 alone, the UK has sanctioned nearly 500 individuals and entities under its Russia sanctions regime,” the statement reads.
