Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili has sharply criticized the European Parliament resolution, stating that the document contains manipulative and inaccurate provisions aimed at exerting political pressure on Georgia.

According to the head of the foreign ministry, the resolution contains a large amount of false information and contributes to deepening polarization within Georgian society. Botchorishvili noted that such documents are used to shape negative narratives about the country and damage its international reputation.

“It is deeply regrettable that one of the European Union’s institutions is being used as a tool to pressure Georgian society and reinforce false perceptions about Georgia,” the minister said.

Botchorishvili also commented on the provisions concerning the visa-free regime with the EU. According to her, the decision to impose restrictions on holders of diplomatic passports was an unusual step in international practice.

The minister emphasized that the Georgian side has already held initial consultations with the European Commission on visa regime issues and will continue working in all areas concerning relations between Tbilisi and Brussels.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia believes that several provisions of the resolution are politicized and do not reflect the actual situation in the country.
