In the case concerning the events of October 4 near the palace on Atoneli Street, a court has found doctor Giorgi Chakhunashvili and six other individuals—Iya Darakhvelidze, Davit Zhgenti, Konstantine Kokaya, Kakhaber Mzhavanadze, Zrakro Albutashvili, and Davit Sturua—guilty. The corresponding ruling was delivered by Judge Giorgi Gelashvili.
According to the verdict, six of the individuals received five years in prison each, while Iya Darakhvelidze was sentenced to three years. Doctor Giorgi Chakhunashvili, who had been out on bail, was arrested in the courtroom.
As for Iya Darakhvelidze, who was also free on bail, she did not attend the sentencing. She will be placed on a wanted list, and the sentence will be executed once her whereabouts are established and she is detained.
As a reminder, all defendants in the October 4 events case were charged under Part 2 of Article 19-222 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (attempted group seizure and blocking of facilities of strategic and special importance) and Part 2 of Article 225 (participation in group violence).
In total, out of 64 defendants in the October 4 events case, 22 people have entered into plea agreements.
