Elene Khoshtaria, one of the leaders of the Coalition for Change who is currently imprisoned, has urged her supporters to stop focusing solely on the issue of her release. In a letter sent from Rustavi Prison, Khoshtaria writes:

“I want to appeal to everyone with a request: let’s stop talking only about my release. This gives Bidzina Ivanishvili leverage over us and an opportunity for blackmail. I do not need to be saved. Let Bidzina Ivanishvili think about how to get out of the inevitable problems he has gotten himself into.”

Khoshtaria states that she will be released along with all other prisoners after Ivanishvili’s defeat; she also expressed support for those convicted in connection with the events of October 4, calling the case “completely shameless and illegal.”

“I send special love to Gogi Chakhunashvili, who has done so much for my health. I am extremely concerned about the condition of Zakro Albutashvili. I deeply appreciate your support and ask you: instead of growing weaker and going on hunger strikes, do the opposite — take care of your health, gather your strength, and continue the fight,” she wrote.

The opposition politician also thanked journalists, civil activists, politicians, and citizens for their support, emphasizing that she has no intention of depending on the decisions of the authorities.

“I feel very strong. We will definitely secure the necessary medical treatment, so do not worry about that. We need to focus on the main thing — dismantling the regime,” Khoshtaria declared.

In conclusion, she noted the symbolic significance of June 20, recalling the events when, in her words, “the Russian side saw the anger of the Georgian people after the insult inflicted upon them,” and expressed her support for all political prisoners.
