Geostat: Georgia’s GDP Grew by 9% in the First Quarter of 2026

In the first quarter of 2026, GDP at current prices amounted to 24,774.6 million GEL, while real GDP growth compared to the same period of the previous year stood at 9.0%. The relevant data for the first quarter of 2026 was published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

The GDP deflator change in the first quarter of 2026 was 2.3%.

The report notes that the following sectors made the most significant contribution to economic growth during this period: information and communication (36.0%), transportation and storage (18.0%), wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (5.5%), financial and insurance activities (11.7%), as well as arts, entertainment, and recreation (14.5%).

According to the agency, the largest shares in the GDP structure are held by wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (13.2%) and the information and communication sector (10.4%). These are followed by real estate activities (10.0%), manufacturing (8.2%), public administration and defense; compulsory social security (7.2%), education (6.5%), construction (6.4%), transportation and storage (6.1%), as well as financial and insurance activities (5.9%).
