Levan Khabeishvili, Chairman of the Political Council of the United National Movement party, has proposed a “5+1” agreement to the public. According to an address by the imprisoned opposition politician published on his Facebook page, consensus must be reached on five issues that, in his opinion, must be addressed in response to propaganda. He names “Georgia without Ivanishvili” as the additional, sixth point.

“The Georgian state is at a historic crossroads. Ivanishvili chose the path of Barabbas the robber and Judas the traitor, rejecting the path of Ilia Chavchavadze, David the Builder, Queen Tamar, and, most importantly, the path of Jesus. Ivanishvili has rejected goodness, love, and compromise, while his regime is built on hatred, torture, violence, and the division of society.

This violent regime is supported by immoral, deceitful, and rampant Russian propaganda. It is our duty to adequately respond to this challenge. Based on this propaganda-driven reality, I propose an agreement—a 5+1 point national consensus.

1. There will never be same-sex marriage in Georgia. Family was, is, and will be a union between a man and a woman. (The European Union has never demanded otherwise. Moreover, a number of EU countries have similar provisions in their laws or constitutions.)

2. Faith and God have always been the main unifying factor for the Georgian people. Love for the Lord, kindness, and tolerance are Christian virtues. Our priority will remain the protection, restoration, and preservation of cultural heritage, as well as support for theological academies and religious infrastructure. We will support expanding the capacity of the institution of the Patriarch to petition for the release of a certain number of convicts at Christmas and Easter.

3. A huge number of citizens are leaving Georgia, fleeing poverty and the Russian regime. Against this backdrop, Russians, Pakistanis, Indians, Iranians, and other foreigners are arriving in the country unchecked. We will stop the uncontrolled influx of foreign citizens and tighten migration policy. Georgia should welcome guests, not replace its own population with foreigners.

4. Regarding Russia as an occupying state, we will pursue a rational and state-oriented policy that will ensure stability, peace, and the decent protection of Georgia’s interests.

5. Georgia is experiencing a demographic catastrophe: the birth rate is falling and the mortality rate is rising. Families are breaking up, and many are forced to emigrate. For us, family and having children are a priority; therefore, starting a family, marriage, and childbirth will be financially incentivized and supported by the state.

Once we agree on these five points and give a clear answer to propaganda without hesitation or ambiguity, we can then move on to other crucial issues: integration with Europe, returning to the Western course, and aligning legislation with European standards in order to return to our historical European family as quickly as possible. After that, we can talk about ending the banking oligarchy, economic development, and the well-being of the people.

And point +1 Georgia without Ivanishvili! Without fulfilling this point, the country will ultimately slide into the abyss, which we, of course, must not allow,” Khabeishvili wrote.
