A tragedy occurred in the Didube district of Tbilisi a few hours ago, claiming the life of a 35-year-old truck driver. At the time of the incident, he was in the truck, transporting reinforced concrete structures on a routine run.
“We received a call from the patrol police informing us of what had happened. I knew him. A wonderful person has died; he was only 35 years old. I can’t say anything more. He was working, making a delivery. It probably happened during sudden braking, but the investigation will establish the exact circumstances,” an acquaintance of the deceased said.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver braked sharply while moving, causing the cargo to shift and crush the truck’s cab. The man died at the scene from his injuries.
The area of the incident has been cordoned off. Police officers and personnel from the Emergency Management Service are working at the scene.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia stated that an investigation has been launched under Article 276 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which establishes liability for violating traffic safety or vehicle operation rules.
