Google Street View has officially launched in Georgia, according to the Ministry of Economy of Georgia. The service has already mapped about 13,000 km of roads and popular tourist locations across the country—in Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, Rustavi, Mtskheta, Telavi, Gori, Zugdidi, and Mestia.

Google Street View is a feature of Google Maps that allows users to virtually view streets, landmarks, and other sites through 360-degree panoramic imagery. Users can “navigate” through the streets and explore the area online.

Now, users worldwide will be able to virtually explore Georgia’s cities, nature, and cultural heritage through 360-degree panoramic images.

The authorities believe that the launch of Google Street View will increase the country’s international visibility and have a positive impact on the development of tourism and the digital economy.

Work on the project has been underway for several years. Moving forward, there are plans to expand the service’s coverage, including pedestrian zones in tourist cities.

The project was implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia and the Georgia Innovation and Technology Agency (GITA).
