Elene Khoshtaria needs to undergo an examination in a multidisciplinary clinic, according to a recommendation by a doctor who visited the imprisoned leader of the “Droa” (“It’s Time”) party. Doctor of Medical Sciences Maka Ioseliani stated that Elene Khoshtaria is experiencing severe pain and has difficulty moving independently, which made it impossible to conduct a full examination of the patient. According to the doctor, she has an inflammatory pathology that is likely progressing.
Maka Ioseliani emphasized that Elene Khoshtaria also needs to be examined by specialists in other medical fields.
“As a result of the examination, lesions were identified in several joints—both peripheral and central. We are talking about several joints, including small joints, phalanges of the fingers, knees, and the hip joint. Some of them could not be fully examined, despite the patient’s attempts, due to severe pain.
I reviewed the results of a radiological study conducted in April 2026. They revealed changes characteristic of a rheumatic disease. The patient has difficulty moving independently, uses a cane, and performs certain movements with difficulty.
Based on the available data, we can speak of an inflammatory joint pathology of a rheumatic nature, which is presumably progressing. In 2024, Turkish colleagues diagnosed her with ‘reactive arthritis’ because it was not possible to obtain a full clinical picture at the time. Now the situation has changed significantly; during that period, no spinal involvement was observed.
I was also unable to fully assess the mobility of the hip joint due to severe pain. I believe these arguments are sufficient to conduct an examination in a multidisciplinary clinic. This is my professional opinion. It is necessary to rule out all possible variants of the disease and take into account all existing risks,” the doctor stated.
