Giorgi Pataridze, Director General of the Special Penitentiary Service, has stated that following a follow-up examination of opposition politician Elene Khoshtaria, doctors will determine how the convict’s further treatment will proceed.

He reported that Khoshtaria’s attending physician, rheumatologist Maka Ioseliani, will visit the patient again, and after the examination, a joint discussion with the medical team will take place to make a decision on her further treatment, as well as the need for additional tests and other medical procedures.

The Director General of the Penitentiary Service noted that during a meeting with the doctor, he discussed in detail the patient’s condition and the next steps to be taken in her best interests.

Pataridze declined to comment on Khoshtaria’s current state of health, emphasizing that this information falls under the category of personal medical data and is not subject to disclosure.

He also stated that a final decision has not yet been made regarding Khoshtaria’s transfer to a clinic, as it is first necessary to wait for the doctor’s follow-up examination.

Meanwhile, rheumatologist Ioseliani herself stated that during the meeting, the parties discussed in detail the change in diagnosis, the reasons for this decision, and the required treatment.

Elene Khoshtaria’s doctor emphasized that the identified pathology requires adequate therapy, and it is precisely after the follow-up examination that the required scope of medical care will be determined.

As a reminder, on June 25, Maka Ioseliani, after examining the imprisoned politician Elene Khoshtaria, stated that she has a severe joint pathology. The doctor noted that due to severe pain, she was unable to conduct a full examination of the patient.

Khoshtaria herself stated on June 26, in a post published on her behalf, that despite her health condition, she does not demand a transfer to a clinic and calls on the penitentiary service to take appropriate responsibility.
