Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili stated during a panel discussion at the Dubrovnik Forum in Croatia that amid the growing number of power centers and intensifying economic competition, “countries that perform a unifying rather than a dividing function acquire special significance. This is precisely the role Georgia plays.”
Botchorishvili spoke about global geopolitical transformations, the importance of multi-vector diplomacy, and Georgia’s role in regional and international processes.
“We make decisions that determine not only the future of our countries, but also the international order that is taking shape before our eyes. That is why I believe that today Georgia is a country that, thanks to its history, challenges, opportunities, and policies, is one of the best examples for a practical discussion on the importance of multi-vector diplomacy,” the Minister said.
The Vice Prime Minister of Georgia noted that against the backdrop of the transformation of the global order, the importance of countries playing a connecting role between different regions and economic spaces is growing.
“Georgia is indeed at a crossroads, and the confrontation of various forces, views, and priorities around us requires us to be particularly cautious and precise,” Botchorishvili emphasized.
She dedicated a significant part of her speech to the growing strategic importance of the Middle Corridor project.
“The Middle Corridor is no longer just a transport route. It is a new geo-economic space that connects Europe, the South Caucasus, Central Asia, and the East. It is a space where trade, energy, digital communications, innovation, shared ideas, and interests intersect,” the politician stated.
Botchorishvili noted that one of the main objectives of domestic and foreign policy is ensuring peace and stability.
“A country with 20% of its territory occupied by Russia talks about peace more than others not because it is weak, but because it knows the price of peace better than anyone else. That is why one of the main objectives of Georgia’s domestic and foreign policy is to ensure peace and stability,” the Georgian Foreign Minister emphasized.
