Georgia and Kazakhstan have officially established a strategic partnership. This was announced by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during expanded-format talks with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the Presidential Palace.
The head of the Georgian government noted that elevating relations to the status of a strategic partnership is an important achievement that opens up new opportunities for expanding cooperation between the two countries in a number of areas.
Kobakhidze thanked Kazakhstan for supporting Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, noting the significance of the work of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation.
“The strategic partnership is an important achievement in our bilateral relations. I am confident that this step will create new opportunities for expanding cooperation between our countries. We also look forward to the next meeting of the intergovernmental commission in Georgia, which will provide additional impetus to trade and investment ties,” the Georgian Prime Minister stated.
For his part, the President of Kazakhstan called the signing of the strategic partnership document a historic decision that serves the interests of the peoples of both countries.
“Today we will sign a joint statement that will elevate our relations to the level of a strategic partnership. This is indeed a historic decision that creates a solid foundation for the further expansion of cooperation,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.
The Kazakh leader also praised Georgia’s achievements in recent years, noting that the country is successfully coping with complex challenges, strengthening democratic institutions, demonstrating economic growth, and strengthening its position on the international stage.
