German Ambassador to Georgia Peter Fischer has announced the completion of his diplomatic mission in the country. He shared the news on his page on the social network X, thanking the people of Georgia and saying goodbye to them in Georgian.
“Our term of office in Georgia has ended. Thank you, be happy, and goodbye,” the diplomat wrote.
Fischer accompanied his post with a photograph taken on Rustaveli Avenue near the April 9 memorial. The post also featured the song “Won’t Stand Down” by British musician Peter Gabriel.
Peter Fischer served as Germany’s ambassador to Georgia for several years, frequently speaking out on the development of German-Georgian relations, the country’s European integration, and current political processes. Over the years, Georgian authorities criticized him and accused him of interfering in the country’s internal affairs.
