Geostat (the National Statistics Office of Georgia) reported that in June 2026, the inflation rate in Georgia compared to the previous month was 0.1%, while the annual inflation rate stood at 5.8%.
The core inflation rate in June 2026 compared to the same period in 2025 was 3.5%, while the annual core inflation excluding tobacco was determined at 3.2%.
The agency stated that the main impact on the monthly inflation rate was driven by price changes in the following groups:
- hotels, cafes, and restaurants — prices increased by 2.1%,
- the group’s contribution to monthly inflation was 0.08%;
- overnight accommodation by 4.1%;
- catering services by 1.7%;
- transport: prices in this group increased by 0.6%, contributing 0.08% to monthly inflation;
- prices mainly rose for transport services (2.9%) and the operation of personal transport equipment (0.2%);
- clothing and footwear: prices in this group decreased by 2.3%, contributing -0.1% to monthly inflation.
Prices decreased for:
- both clothing (-3.1%) and footwear (-0.6%). Food and non-alcoholic beverages: prices in this group decreased by 0.1%, contributing -0.07 percentage points to monthly inflation.
- milk, cheese, and eggs (-1.5%), sugar, jam, and other sweets (-1.3%), vegetables and melons (-1.1%), coffee, tea, and cocoa (-0.7%).
In addition, prices increased for:
- fruit and grapes (3.3%), fish (1.5%), meat and meat products (0.5%), bread and bakery products (0.1%), mineral and spring water, non-alcoholic beverages, and natural juices (0.1%).
According to Geostat, the annual inflation rate was most heavily influenced by the following categories: food and non-alcoholic beverages — prices rose by 5.6%, contributing 1.92 percentage points to annual inflation.
Prices rose in the following subgroups:
- fish — 20.4%; meat and meat products — 9.8%; fruit and grapes — 8.7%; bread and bakery products — 6.6%; sugar, jam, and sweets — 5.5%; oils and fats — 5.5%; coffee, tea, and cocoa — 4.2%; mineral and spring water, non-alcoholic beverages, and natural juices — 1.8%; milk, cheese, and eggs — 1.8%; vegetables and melons — 0.4%.
In the transport group, prices rose by 16.5%, contributing 1.87 percentage points to annual inflation.
