Diplomats: NATO Summit in Ankara — Another Step into Self-Isolation for Georgia

The Society of Diplomats of Georgia has reacted to the fact that Georgia was not invited to the NATO summit in Ankara. The statement notes that the NATO summit in Ankara has become another step on the path to self-isolation for Georgia.”

“Not a single official representative of Georgia is participating in any official meeting within the framework of the summit. The issue of Georgia is not included on the agenda of any official meeting.

Consequently, the participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs in an event organized by a research organization in Ankara during the summit does not change the fact that Georgia has remained outside the official political process of the NATO summit and the formats for discussing the decisions being made,” the diplomats stated.

As a reminder, Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili has traveled to Ankara, but will participate in the “Allies in Ankara” event on July 7–8 on the sidelines of the NATO summit.
