A conflict broke out during a press conference a day before the start of the RAF international freestyle wrestling tournament. According to Sportall.ge, the RAF freestyle wrestling tournament is scheduled to take place in Tbilisi on July 11, featuring many prominent Georgian athletes. A traditional press conference was held on the eve of the competition, during which a verbal altercation occurred.
According to reports, the conflict arose between Georgian UFC fighter Merab Dvalishvili and one of the guests from Dagestan.
According to various sports publications, tensions flared after one of the attendees took issue with Dvalishvili’s remarks regarding UFC fighter Umar Nurmagomedov and publicly expressed his displeasure.
Meanwhile, the publication La Gazzetta Georgia reports that following the verbal altercation with Merab Dvalishvili, several fighters from the Caucasus attempted to break through a security and police cordon to enter the room where the Georgian athletes were located.
