The Tbilisi City Court has upheld the decision to impose electronic monitoring on former high-ranking police officer Colonel Ioseb Sigua, who is accused of domestic violence and threats by his wife. The ruling was made by Judge Tornike Kochkyan.

Ioseb Sigua has stepped down from his position. He headed the Main Division for the Fight Against Organized Crime of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. He had been appointed to this post just a few days prior. Previously, he served as head of the Main Detective Division of the Tbilisi Police Department.

Regarding the allegations against him, Sigua’s wife initially stated on the show “Nodar Meladze’s Saturday” that her husband had threatened to kill her, saying he would throw her from the 12th floor and “put her in a barrel and bury her.”

Later, Shatberava told the InterpressNews agency that law enforcement officers had fitted Ioseb Sigua with an electronic bracelet the day before.

A restraining order has been issued against him, and his right to carry weapons has been restricted.
