sdfdgg News

Ioseb Sigua, a high-ranking police officer accused of domestic violence and threats by his wife, Sofio Sigua-Shatberashvili, has stepped down from his post. He headed the Main Division for Combating Organized Crime of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. He had been appointed to this position just a few days ago.

Previously, he served as the head of the Main Detective Division of the Tbilisi Police Department.

Regarding the allegations against him, Sigua’s wife initially stated on the “Nodar Meladze’s Saturday” program that her husband had threatened to kill her, including saying he would throw her from the 12th floor, “put her in a barrel, and bury her.”

Later, Shatberashvili told the InterpressNews agency that law enforcement officers had fitted Ioseb Sigua with an electronic monitoring bracelet the day before.

In addition, a restraining order has been issued against him, and his right to carry weapons has been restricted.
