The Minister of Infrastructure of Georgia, Revaz Sokhadze, is currently in the disaster zone in Telavi (Kakheti). According to him, all relevant agencies have been mobilized to quickly eliminate its consequences.

The Minister pointed out that the primary task now is to repair the damage as quickly as possible and return the city to its normal rhythm of life.

“As you know, a natural disaster struck Telavi last night. The city’s central street has been seriously damaged. Currently, the Ministry of Infrastructure and all relevant agencies have been mobilized, and all ministries are involved in the efforts.

I am currently here with Kakha Guledani and David Songulashvili, as well as with members of parliament and the regional governor. We are all working to eliminate the consequences of what happened in Telavi today as quickly as possible and return the city to normal life.

In the future, we will thoroughly study the situation and take all necessary measures to minimize the consequences of such natural disasters should they occur again,” Sokhadze stated.

As a reminder, heavy rainfall in Telavi caused the Telavishevi River to overflow its banks, flooding parts of Kavkasioni and Alazani Avenues. Torrents of water burst the riverbed and flooded the city streets. The ground floors of residential buildings, commercial premises, pharmacies, and shops were flooded. Vehicles and power lines were also damaged.
