Kaja Kallas, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, stated that Brussels has “virtually no” contact with the Georgian government and that the EU “does not intend” to support it. According to the EU official, Brussels instead wants to provide support to the Georgian people.

Before the start of the meeting of EU foreign ministers, Kallas stated that the European Union had discussed how to act so that Georgian citizens do not lose hope in Europe.

“The Black Sea Strategy, which we developed last year, is already in place. We are currently in the implementation phase. In this process, of course, various countries of the Black Sea region play an important role. Currently, we are experiencing difficulties in our relations with Georgia, as we have virtually no contact with its government, and we do not want to support it. We want to support the Georgian people. We also discussed how to do this most effectively so that Georgian citizens do not lose hope in Europe,” Kallas said.
